Why bother with Perfect Layers

The last couple of days my wife has been like a child in a toy shop playing with a new software she just downloaded. It gives here the chance of painting with all kinds of effects depicting different material and medium one can paint with. Even though I am happy that she finally picked up the brush again and started doing some art work, I felt a bit left out, and had therefore to search for some new toy for me to play with.

Just as I was searching the web I got a mail from On One softwares that promoted the new onOne¤Software Perfect Photo Suite 6 software. Here was a good opportunity to spend a windy sunday playing with some new toy. At first, It did not make it any less interesting that the "Big" name in Photography Scott Kelby was recommending the software. He stated:

"The impact Perfect layers is going to have on photographers using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom makes it a game changer. ! This is the must have plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom ."

After spending a good part of a sunday playing around with the software, I still have to find where the game change is. Maybe it is well hidden. May be it is as well hidden from me as most of my understanding for the Kelby blabbe is. Or maybe it just is the fact that because I am a long lasting user of Photoshop, Perfect layer does nothing I can not do with Photoshop and thus is not jawbreaker for me.

All inn all if you use photoshop and you know the perfect way of working, there is no point in adding perfect layers to your arsenal. If you on the other hand do not have Photoshop available and are not used to its layer capabilities, you might get a wow effect from using this software.

You might even be like my wife and get the wow wee woo effect. I on the other hand am gonna stick to using Photoshop and make this my first and only time I listen to Mr. Kelby.

"The impact onOne¤Software Perfect Photo Suite 6 is going to have on me using Lightroom makes it a no brainer. Stick to the good old Lightroom - Photoshop workflow. There is not point in adding a screwdriver to your toolbox if you have 10 of the same size already"

Or can you proof me wrong? Try onOne¤Software Perfect Photo Suite 6 and then tell me.
